Compassion Sewers provide medical masks FREE OF CHARGE to hospital workers during this Covid-19 crisis.

Masks are cloth, with pockets to insert medical paper filters, moldable nose bridge wire and  side ties that provide a close, adjustable fit (a design approved by several hospitals).

About Compassion Sewing

We are a group of El Dorado County home-sewers, founded by high school mathematics teacher, Alicia Gray, who recruited a team to help her make 400 masks for a local hospital and another in San Francisco, using a design approved by Providence/St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank, CA.
Volunteers came forward, many without sewing skills who were willing to cut out fabric or donate supplies and funds, and the word spread.

Soon, many local hospitals in Sacramento and the surrounding region have contacted our group

How the process works

Under construction

Masks for hospital workers

N

Approved Design

We are using an improved design, used by many hospitals. This mask is constructed of cloth and can be reused and sterilized.

N

Surgical Filter Insert Pockets

Two filters can be inserted into the sterilized mask, which slips over the head, gathers the sides for a tight fit and ties at the back of the head.

N

Can Cover N95 Masks

Extending the usage and life of these scarce one-person, one-time use Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) masks.

“What do you need and how can I help?”

We will answer that, as soon as we set up a donation portal, once I can stop sewing!
